Will it be enough to improve the sport sedan's slowing sales?
Since its launch a few years ago, the Kia Stinger has been one of the most exciting cars to come out of Korea. Currently rated as our Best Sedan Under $40k, it was inevitable that the sporty Stinger would undergo an inevitable facelift, the details of which have just begun to emerge after a new spy shot was released by the guys at Korean Car Blog.
Pictured in South Korea, the heavily camouflaged Stinger was seen with new alloy wheels and a LED stripe taillight design that spans the width of the body, which is quite a change from the current model's more traditional separated taillight clusters.

The report also indicates that despite Kia already having launched the 2020 Stinger with revised trim options such as the GT-Line, the facelifted model pictured here will be a more comprehensive update. Besides the styling changes, the 3.3-liter V6 will have headlights that adjust depending on the position of the steering wheel. Interior color options that were reserved for the V6 could also find their way onto the cheaper turbo-four.
The spy shots don't reveal much more than this, with the same quad exhaust outlets as the current model and the camouflaging covering virtually the entire front-end besides the tiger grille, air intakes, and the headlamps. At least the 365-hp V6 will be maintained because, although it isn't the fastest sedan in the world, the motor sounds lovely and pairs well with the car's excellent chassis.

Considering that local Stinger sales have declined in 2019, perhaps it's no surprise that Kia is forging ahead with a facelift this early into the sedan's life. The latest report indicates that the facelifted model will make its appearance only around July next year, so here's hoping that sales of the Stinger don't drop much lower than the 743 units tallied in January 2020 - its lowest complete month of sales yet.
